Tinctures and Infusions

What is the difference between a tincture and an infusion? Well for starters both of them are medicinal as opposed to their Magical counterparts - potions and brews. Tinctures and infusions are made with herbs relying heavily on the medicinal/healing vibrations and energy of those herbs and seeking a healing outcome. Between the two - a tincture is usually alcohol based where an infusion is steeped in boiling water. One such infusion would be Chamomile and Skullcap steeped in boiling water and drank for sleep before bed. Where a tincture of Dandelion Root set in grain alcohol purifies the blood and acts as a diuretic. It is important to study the toxicity levels of herbs and other important factors before consuming any herbs. I use the following books for medicinal information:

How to Make a Tincture

Take a half ounce of herb or a mixture of herbs and pour them into 1 cup of grain alcohol (Everclear.)
Allow the mixture to sit as long as you can before you need to use it.
Caution - This mixture is strong to the taste, you may need to dilute it with water.

How to Make a Infusion

Take a tablespoon of herbs or a mixture of herbs and put them in water that has boiled (do not put the
herbs in the water as it is boiling.) Cover and allow to cool to desired temperature. Strain and drink.
