Meaning of the Holiday
Summer solstice 2022 in Northern Hemisphere will be at 2:13 AM on Tuesday, June 21, Pacific Standard Time.
This holiday, because it is an earth event, usually happens on June 20th, 21st, or 22nd. At this time the earth tilts 23.5 degree toward the sun and positions itself directly over the tropic of Cancer. Because of this the northern hemisphere is in a more direct path of the Sun's energy causing the warmer temperatures of summer. This holiday is important because it is something significant that is Happening to our earth. The focus during this holiday is the sun and the importants of the sun in every aspect of our life.
Deities and Mythologies
Apollo - Greek (aspect of Helios) god of the sun and healing.
Ra - Egyptian sun god.
Hestia - Greek, goddess of hearth, home and family.
Aten - Egyptian (thought to be an aspect of Ra) was mentioned in the Book of the Dead with the line, "Hail, Aten, thou lord of beams of light, when thou shinest, all faces live."
Lugh - Celtic, can be honored during this holiday as he is a sun god, but generally not so much as his big holiday is Lughnasadh.
